Training requirement :One or two weeks of training will produce a reasonable to well qualified
operator but in most cases only a mediocre programmer (depending on previous experiences with welding robots).
Also, the training requirements for a programmer, operator or
technician obviously increases with the sophistication of the welding robot system.
Therefore, don't expect to have a fully trained programmer after 2 weeks of training. To
become a competent programmer can take months of training and years of practical experience on welding robots. Most programs written by inexperienced programmers do not
use the full capabilities of the robot system and hence produce slow running programs with questionable welding results.
Rather spend the money on additional training for the
operator or the maintenance engineer and have the odd programs written by a professional programmer with a sound welding knowledge. Its cheaper , faster and more professional in the
end.
Have your service engineer not only trained on the electrical / electronics aspects of the robot system but also on the basic operation / programming of the system. Remember, a
well trained service engineer will keep the downtime of the system to a minimum. A service engineer of your system supplier might not always be available right away.
